Planet Traveler
Planet traveler is a community based local Toronto Hostel that thrives on their strong sense of connection and inclusivity. Nestled in the heart of the city, it offers a welcoming environment where travelers from around the globe can meet, share experiences, and create lasting memories. We partnered up with Planet travelers to help them create a digital experience to grow their brand. We decided on creating a digital journal that hostel members could use to create memories. This enabled travelers to share travel experiences, local discoveries, and personal reflections in real-time.
Research
Our research into the Planet Traveler Hostel highlighted several key insights that informed the development of the digital guest journal. A digital journal is an online platform that allows users to document, share, and reflect on their experiences, thoughts, or discoveries in real-time. It serves as a collaborative space for sharing stories, feedback, and recommendations, often enhancing community engagement and connection. We found that guests highly valued the opportunity to share their experiences, including hidden gems, local eateries, and unique attractions they’ve discovered during their stay. This not only enriches the experience of other guests but also builds a sense of community, aligning with the hostel’s core values. Additionally, this shared knowledge helps future guests make informed decisions regarding their travel plans and activities. The digital journal serves as a central platform to collect and showcase these recommendations, which can also provide data to inform the hostel’s events, activities, and partnerships with local businesses.
Gantt Chart
This Gantt Chart illustrates the structured timeline, and processes we followed to reach our final prototypes and deliverables. It provides a detailed breakdown of each phase, highlighting key milestones, deadlines, and developments along the way. By organizing the project into manageable tasks, we were able to maintain focus and ensure efficient use of time and resources.
The chart also served as a valuable tool for tracking progress, aligning team efforts, and identifying potential bottlenecks early on. This systematic approach ensured that every stage of the project was completed with precision, ultimately resulting in high-quality deliverables.

These wireframes represent our initial effort to conceptualize the layout and design of our digital journal. They served as a foundational step in visualizing the format and functionality we aimed to achieve. By creating these wireframes, we were able to identify key design elements and user interactions early in the process.
This stage allowed us to refine our ideas and ensure alignment with the project’s overall goals. These wireframes provided a clear roadmap for the next stages of development, helping us create a more polished and user-centric final product.
Prototype
This prototype enables users to create a personalized digital post through our innovative digital journal and share it seamlessly on Instagram. By combining thoughtful design with user-friendly functionality, this tool bridges creativity and social connectivity.
